The Atatus browser agent instruments web applications and reports what real visitors experience: the pages they open, the actions they take, the requests that fail, the errors they hit, and a replay of the session when you enable it.
The agent is a set of small packages rather than one library, so you install only what you use. This page explains what it collects and which package you need.
What the agent collects
Some signals are on by default and others you turn on:
| Signal | How it is collected |
|---|---|
| Views | Automatically on load and on every route change |
| Errors | Uncaught exceptions and unhandled rejections, always on |
| Web vitals | LCP, FID, CLS, INP, FCP, and W3C navigation timings |
| Actions | Clicks and taps, when you set trackUserInteractions |
| Resources | Fetch, XHR, and asset timings, when you set trackResources |
| Long tasks | Main-thread blocking work, when you set trackLongTasks |
| Session Replay | A recording of the session, sampled separately |
| Logs | Console output and structured logs, through a second package |
Packages
Install the entry package for what you need:
| Package | Purpose |
|---|---|
@atatus/browser-rum |
RUM plus the Session Replay recorder. The usual choice |
@atatus/browser-rum-slim |
RUM without the replay recorder, for a smaller bundle |
@atatus/browser-logs |
Browser log collection and forwarding |
@atatus/browser-rum-react |
React error boundary and router view names |
@atatus/browser-rum-angular |
Angular error handler integration |
@atatus/browser-rum-vue |
Vue plugin, with a vue-router entry |
@atatus/browser-rum-nextjs |
Next.js integration |
@atatus/browser-rum-nuxt |
Nuxt module |
@atatus/browser-core, @atatus/browser-rum-core, @atatus/browser-worker, and @atatus/js-core are internal dependencies. They are installed for you, and you do not import them directly.
How the agent loads
The agent exposes two globals, ATATUS_RUM and ATATUS_LOGS. Initialize each one once, as early as your application starts, so recording begins before your first component renders:
import { atatusRum } from '@atatus/browser-rum';
atatusRum.init({
licenseKey: '<license-key>',
appName: 'Storefront',
env: 'production',
sessionSampleRate: 100,
});
Next steps
Work through these in order when you are setting up for the first time:
- Installation: install with a bundler.
- Configuration: every initialization option.
- Framework Integrations: name views by route instead of URL.
- Session Replay: recording, sampling, and privacy.
- Error Tracking: automatic and manual error reporting.
- Feature Flags: correlate behavior with flag variants.
- Logs: console and structured logs.
- API Reference: the full public surface of both SDKs.
